Australia Awards Short Courses offer the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake short-term study, research and professional development in support of key development and foreign affairs priorities. Short Course opportunities build valuable people-to-people links both within Australia and across the Indo-Pacific region, enabling mid-career professionals and emerging leaders to tap into Australian expertise and to exchange valuable skills and knowledge.

Australia Awards – South Asia & Mongolia is seeking an Australian Higher Education provider or an Australian Registered Training Organisation to deliver Australia Awards Short Courses. For details regarding the request for tender for each Course, please click on the Course name below.

This Short Course will bring together senior level public sector executives to build networks and develop strategies to transform public administration in South Asia. The course will address the following key themes:

  • Developing an impartial, apolitical public service.
  • Fostering a sense of integrity and professionalism in public administration, emphasising ethical leadership, transparency, accountability, and professionalism in the delivery of public services.
  • Equipping senior officials with an understanding of Australian Public Service (APS) values and leadership practices, helping them understand how the APS manages public service reform, build public trust, and maintain professionalism.
  • Promoting women’s leadership in the public service, particularly focusing on strategies and best practices for supporting gender equality and advancing women into leadership positions within the civil service.

The format of the course should be flexible, while providing ample opportunities to strengthen recipients’ personal and institutional linkages with the Australian Public Service, whilst sharing information and professional experiences for mutual benefit. Recipients will also be encouraged to establish ‘person-to-person’ linkages with Australian counterparts throughout the course. These professional networks will serve as a basis for ongoing engagement once recipients return to their countries.

This Short Course will support for up to 24 participants.

The Short Course will be delivered via blended delivery over six months, commencing in June 2025 and completing no later than December 2025.

This Short Course seeks to support mid-level professionals working in sectors relevant to agriculture, trade and food security to further deepen their understanding of agriculture and food security topics. This course will cover off on seven main themes, which will include the Global Trends in Agriculture, Sustainability, Agriculture and Production Systems, the Markets and Trade, Animal and Plant Health, Aquaculture and Fisheries and Operating Environment & Technology.

This Short Course will provide an opportunity for participants to share their experiences with both practitioners and academia. They will be provided with opportunities to network with each other and relevant counterparts and have the opportunity to gain insights and perspectives within a supportive learning environment.

This Short Course will support for up to 20 participants.

The Short Course will be delivered via blended delivery over four months, commencing in April 2025 and completing no later than June 2025.

This Short Course will bring together early to mid-career diplomats from South Asia and Mongolia to help build the participants’ knowledge, provide a practical understanding of diplomacy, and build networks across the region.

The course will address the following key themes:

  • trade, investment and economic diplomacy
  • international policy and strategies
  • core skills required for diplomats
  • digital communications.

This Short Course will provide an opportunity for participants to share their experiences with both practitioners and academia. They will be provided with opportunities to network with each other and relevant counterparts and have the opportunity to gain insights and perspectives within a supportive learning environment.

To be eligible to tender for the design and delivery of this Short Course, the lead business must be a Registered Training Organisation in Australia, or an Australian tertiary institution as defined in the Higher Education Support Act, 2003 Table A, B and C. We highly encourage organisation who do not fall into those categories but wish to tender to look to arrange a consortium.

This Short Course will support for up to 20 participants.

The Short Course will be delivered via blended delivery over four months, commencing in April 2025 and completing no later than June 2025.
