Australia Awards Short Courses offer the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake short-term study, research and professional development in support of key development and foreign affairs priorities. Short Course opportunities build valuable people-to-people links both within Australia and across the Indo-Pacific region, enabling mid-career professionals and emerging leaders to tap into Australian expertise and to exchange valuable skills and knowledge.

Australia Awards – South Asia & Mongolia is seeking an Australian Higher Education provider or an Australian Registered Training Organisation to deliver Australia Awards Short Courses. For details regarding the request for tender for each Course, please click on the Course name below.

Australia’s TVET system is recognised internationally for its industry-driven, outcomes-focused and quality assured approach. For example, the Australian apprenticeship based TVET model could serve as a best practice for the TVET sector policymakers to replicate in their respective countries TVET sectors. 

The proposed Short Course aims to bring together policy makers or practitioners from across the Australia Awards – South Asia & Mongolia region to identify opportunities to learn from each other’s experiences in maturing their respective TVET systems in this Short Course focusing on the following learning outcomes.

On completion of the Short Course participants will be able to:

  • Understand regional trends in TVET reform.
  • Comprehend the advantages of the Australian apprenticeship based TVET model
  • Gain insights into skills and training occupational qualification requirements.
  • Analyse and critique their country’s current TVET policy frameworks.
  • Design inclusive, industry-aligned TVET strategies.
  • Use digital learning platforms and applications to design modern, inclusive curricula.
  • Apply regional and international good practice in TVET governance, financing, and partnerships.
  • Facilitate regional cooperation for mutual recognition and mobility.

This Short Course will support up to 24 participants.

The Short Course will be delivered via blended delivery, commencing in December 2025 and completing no later than May 2026.

The proposed Short Course aims to build the capacity of certified mid-level Indian para-athletics coaches through a customised sports science and coaching development exchange in Australia. Nominated by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and other relevant institutions, coaches will train with leading institutions—the Victorian Institute of Sport, Paralympics Australia, Australian Institute of Sport, Australian universities.

Through this Short Course, Indian para-athletics coaches will gain exposure to Australian best practice in high-performance coaching, sports science, athlete development and inclusion frameworks. This will strengthen India’s para-athletics ecosystem and ensure that athletes from marginalised communities are better supported to achieve their full potential.

Objectives of this course are outlined below:

1. Build capacity of Indian mid-level athletic coaches

  • Provide targeted learning to recipients showcasing Australian best practice, particularly, in para-athletics coaching and training and athlete welfare.
  • Enhance knowledge of adaptive coaching techniques, sports science, and athlete development models and for para-athletes.
  • Develop skills for athlete assessment, understanding the classification system in para-athletics, ethical principles, addressing societal barriers and promoting inclusive sporting environments.
  • Expand their professional networks through exposure to Australian sports institutions, course providers, sports commercial service providers, and other Australian sports stakeholders.

2. Support improved athlete performance

The course aims to improve the capacity of coaches, which, in turn, aims to support the improved performance and development of the Indian athletes under their supervision.

3. Expose recipients to the full range of Australian sporting expertise.

Recipients will receive training from Government agencies (ASC, Victoria Institute of Sport) as well as private entities (e.g. Australia Strength and Conditioning Association). This will give participants opportunities to build professional and institutional linkages with sporting bodies, and an understanding of the commercial offerings Australia can provide to India.

This Short Course will support up to 20 participants.

The Short Course will be delivered via blended delivery, commencing in December 2025 and completing no later than April 2026.
